Located on Franklin Street just one block south of the Tribeca Grand, Steven Alan is a lofty showroom featuring the city’s tried and true labels like Alexander Wang, Earnest Sewn, 3.1 phillip lim, and United Bamboo. But you also find something from the borrowed or blue files, a.k.a lesser-known wares—like cozy Demy Lee sweaters and Le Mont St. Michel dresses. Emerging designers Ong, Veena, Rittenhouse, Stella Pop and Christopher Dean are also raising eyebrows. Also worth considering are Alan’s own line of long-sleeve button-downs in a plethora of plaids. Restored Rolex watches and candy-colored cocktail rings can also be picked up here. And as if we need say more, there’s a real record player behind the front that’s no stranger to albums like Velvet Underground, Elvis Costello and Led Zeppelin.
